Hi! I'm Phillipa Dick and I'm the founder of HatchPBL. I am a primary school teacher with over 20 years of classroom experience (man, I feel old). In 2016 I took a year off to do some deeper learning and created Hatch which had two parts - an after school and school holiday programme as well as in-class support for teachers. I'm an advocate for learning that encourages innovation, creativity and real-world connections....Project Based Learning. Hatch evolved into HatchPBL and this online space when I decided to focus purely on supporting teachers. I am currently working as the Lead Facilitator for the Hills Cluster (5 Schools) and the South Otago Future Focused Learning Project (18 schools ranging from early childhood to secondary.) I love it! As this website evolves, I can't wait to see what conversations we have and ideas we share. Our young people continue to blow my mind with what they're capable of and so do teachers. This website isn't perfect...it's just run by me so your feedback is useful...the same way in which we encourage this for our young people.
To get more of a sense of me, here are some excerpts from an interview I gave when I was running Hatch:
